JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

JOB TITLE:             Water & Sewer Maintenance Worker Grade 1   

LOCATION:             Village of Irvington Water & Sewer Department

                                    

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • ·         Under the general supervision of the Superintendent or Foreman, the incumbent of this class performs semi-skilled work involved in the installation, maintenance and repair of water mains, service connections, valves, hydrants, sewer lines, storm sewers, pumping stations, catch basins, manholes and other equipment used in a water treatment and sewer system facility. 
  • ·         This is a responsible position in which incumbents have considerable freedom of action in carrying out assignments.
  • ·         Supervision may be exercised over the work of Grade 2 Maintenance Workers and/or Laborers.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • ·         Graduation from high school or trade school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma
  • ·         One year of experience as a Water & Sewer Maintenance Worker Grade 2 OR one year of experience as a journeyman OR four years of experience as a plumber’s helper OR two years of experience in the operation, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:         

  • ·         Valid NY State Driver’s License
  • ·         NYS Department of Health Grade D water license (or must obtain within one year of employment)
  • ·         Applicants must be at least 19 years of age.
  • ·         All applicants will have background checks conducted by the Village of Irvington.
  • DETAILS:
  • ·         Salary is $92,044.00
  • ·         Saturdays, Sundays and some weeknights possible
  • ·         Looking to hire by mid-June 2026
